Collaboration is key
Our focus is on collaboration and communication. Throughout the project, we foster regular and frequent exchanges, not only with our clients, but also among our staff.

Defining needs
At the beginning of a project, we meet with clients to define their expectations, establish technical and functional requirements, and estimate probable costs. Next, we produce a requirements document or design brief and a detailed cost estimate. These documents form the basis of our design and lay the groundwork for effective project management.

Regular reviews
We review the design at every project milestone, checking our work against the program requirements, making changes when necessary, and clearly communicating a project’s status, including any adjustment to costs.

Tools and technology
We use sophisticated technology to aid design. For example, we develop acoustical models of architectural spaces in 3-D, allowing analysis of sound behavior as well as prediction of sound system coverage and technical performance. WAV files can be created and used for audible simulations of design options. Similarly, 3-D renderings can demonstrate the performance of visual system. For fieldwork, PMK maintains a wide array of advanced instrumentation allowing measurement of virtually any relevant performance metric.

Construction phase services
For the construction phase, we either recommend qualified contractors or evaluate contractors chosen by the client, ensuring that the client gets the highest level of quality. We review shop drawings and other submittals, answer questions from the field, make periodic site visits and provide proof-of-performance testing. Our field services are performed by personnel who have construction experience, providing a hands-on perspective.

The finished project
During the construction administration phase, we check the site regularly. At substantial completion, we issue a thorough punch list of items to be completed and/or corrected. We also conduct proof-of-performance testing and adjustments on PMK-designed systems as part of the commissioning process.
