The firm was founded in 1984 as PMI Acoustics, in association with a prominent Dallas engineering firm. Initially, the firm specialized in architectural and environmental acoustics. In 1985,
David Marsh was hired, expanding services to include sound systems design. The same year, Howard Pelton, P.E., joined the firm, bringing 20 years of experience in architectural acoustics, environmental acoustics and industrial noise and vibration control.
In 1987, the firms name was changed to Pelton Marsh Kinsella. PMK was acquired by Carter
& Burgess, Inc., an ENR top 25 EA firm
in 1992. The firm opened an office in Las Vegas in 1998.
In 2002, PMK International was formed and
opened it's first office in Dubai, UAE led
by Usman
Bhatti.
In
2006, senior staff including David Marsh,
Joe Booher, Gary McAuliffe, Gary Madaras and
Usman Bhatti reformed Pelton Marsh Kinsella
and acquired the practice from Carter &
Burgess.
